Reporters looking for him have contacted his office and cannot get an answer. His website offers no facts and the State Department has no idea where he is or what he is doing..

AND WE ARE PAYING FOR HIM AND HIS WIFE..

And then to top this off.. NY POST reporting that HAMAS put out a press release in SUPPORT of the Ground Zero Mosque!!

Peggers. You’re talking common sense.

There isn’t another group of people that strap on bombs and blow up innocent civilians. There isn’t another religion where a 40 yr old man can marry a 12 yr old girl, or a society that cuts heads and hands off, or stones women to death.

Never have 3000 American civilians been murdered in such a way, and now these pigs want to spit in the faces of the family members of the ones they murderd.

There are plenty of good Musliums but way too many of them are uncivilzed butchers that need to be put down, like a sick dog.

Most of the ill-treatment that women receive in the Muslim world is based on local culture and traditions, without any basis in the faith of Islam. I’ve had some pretty offensive insults hurled at me attempting to make me feel something and then when I finally react I’m told my feelings were incorrect.

How could my feelings be incorrect? Should any of us in here have to worry that expressing our opinion would upset some clod to the point they may try to harm you somehow?

I have to say I do miss the condescension of digital and my cuz, Guy. They had world-class classism going for them.

As for the imam being a part owner of FOX, he probably is. I am part owner of several companies that I have invested in. Do I know what every other owner of any of the companies I invest in do with their money, nope.

As for John Stewart being a credible news source, he is a source, but credible he is not. I will accept this theory when major news sources break with this story. I am sure CNN, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, and the others, would be licking their chops for this story. The problem is, they may be investing in the mosque also and don’t want to spill the beans on themselves and anyone else.

Our fellow bloggers will jump at the first opportunity to call all conservatives hypocrits because we have a point of view on a topic like the ground zero mosque.

I find it very interesting that we conservatives, and all other people who are against the mosque are attacked by the liberals on this blog. I have always asked them what side of the fence they are on. I am starting to think that the liberals like Roxi, lancaster, Ray, and others, would be against the mosque if we conservatives were in favor of building it. For instance, if we were arguing the Muslims had the right to build the mosque their because of the Freedom of Religion right, I bet our favorite liberals would be protesting against it screaming “separation of church and state.” It must be easy to look at the world when you don’t your feet embedded in any concrete foundations on any issues.

Besides just being critical of the people who are against the mosque at ground zero, where does Ray, lancaster, and Roxi stand on this issue. Do you guys want the thing to be built? Or are you in support of the families of the 911 victims and the majority of Americans who don’t want the mosque built there?

Ray: Your comments about woman being treated is based on local culture, come on!! Most Muslims who have fled their countries to come to the USA for freedom from their “cultural” abuses then. Many Arab Americans are here because of the freedoms. Arab Americans come from all over the middle east, where women are rated as second class citizens. Here, they know they have equal rights under OUR laws. There are some extremist who come here and who have honor killed some of their wives and daughters, but that does not mean the who religion is like that. Your view about it being cultural carries no weight. Muslim women in Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Afghanistan, Arab parts of Israel, Egypt, Lybia, Moracco, Saudi Arabia, and all the others, women have limited or no rights. Or are you in support of the families of the 911 victims and the majority of Americans who don’t want the mosque built there?”

It’s a fair question and I will try to answer it, at least for myself.

First of all, I don’t fit neatly into the “liberal” label. I suppose I could be considered liberal on some issues, conservative on others. I don’t like political labels and litmus tests, which is why I’m an independent, non-affiliated voter.

As for the mosque, as I said on another blog thread yesterday, I wish it was a bit farther away than two city blocks from ground zero so we might have avoided this divisive conversation. But that said, it’s clear that some would object to its being built even a mile away.

Interestingly, there was a demonstration this morning at the site by families of 9-11 victims in support of the Muslim center. Many were Muslim-Americans who feel their rights of religious freedom are being trampled due to something they had both condemned and had suffered. Their spokeswoman’s son was one of the 3,000 killed when the towers fell, another had a son serving with US troops in Afghanistan. They felt, as loyal and patriotic Americans, they were being treated as second-class citizens because of the actions of a handful of Saudi fanatics.

A lot depends upon what one believes the Muslin center would mean, a symbol of American rights and freedoms, or a mockery of the suffering inflicted on 9-11. As with so many things, it’s in the eye of the beholder.

Under the customary tribal law existing in Arabia before Islam, women as a general rule had virtually no legal status. They were sold into marriage by their guardians for a price paid to the guardian, the husband could terminate the union at will, and women had little or no property or succession rights.

In pre-Islamic Arabia, women’s status varied widely according to laws and cultural norms of the tribes in which they lived.

In some tribes, women were emancipated even in comparison with many of today’s standards. There were instances where women held high positions of power and authority. In other tribes, women were of low status or even worse. Women enjoyed no rights whatsoever and were treated no better than a commodity. Not only they were enslaved, but they could also be inherited as property.

Women were subordinate to their fathers, brothers, and husbands. There were also patterns of homicidal abuse of women and girls, including instances of killing female infants considered to be a liability.

The Q’uran mentions that the Arabs in Jahiliya (the period of ignorance or pre-islamic period) used to bury their daughters alive. The barbaric custom of burying female infants alive, comments a noted Quranic commentator, Mohammad Asad, seems to have been fairly widespread in pre-islamic Arabia.

I think we can agree, the situation with this mosque is extreme. The circumstances complicate or as Matt would call it, a conundrum. Basic religious freedoms are challenged here because of the 911 event.

I understand how some feel the mosque being built there strengthens our religious freedom and how it is a ministry by the Muslims to help heal the pain.

Others, like myself, see the background of the imam wanting to build it there. His background and the comments he has said a recent as yesterday, are anti-American, and fall into the lines of Isamic dominance, which is part of their history.

There are arguments on both sides, but I feel the arguments for the mosque are by the touchy feely types and the extreme Islamic types joining forces to build it there.

I think most people would welcome the Muslim center being located on another site, farther away from ground zero. But even if that were to happen, I’m afraid the image of America as a beacon of freedom has already been tarnished by the vitriol of anti-Muslim rhetoric, certainly by over a billion Muslims around the world.

Islam did not bring down the World Trade Center, a bunch of Saudi fanatics led by Osama Bin Laden did.

Interesting to me how the true story of American opinion on Muslims gets so distorted, the same as the true American opinion on Immigration does..

Why does the left find it so necessary to portray a majority of Americans as Anti Muslim and Anti Immigrant when the truth is the issue for most Americans is with the RADICAL FUNDAMENTALIST Muslims and ILLEGAL Immigrants?

The Majority of the American Public embraces Muslims and Legal Immigrants, so why massage the truth? How does creating a problem where one does not exist help?

There are always two sides to an issue. This issue contains strong arguments from all sides.

I am against the mosque because of the imams history, and the fact Islamic fanatics caused the deaths of 3000 of our fellow Americans at this site. this imam is going to exploit Islamic fanticism here. He commented yesterday that the USA has more blood on it’s hands than Al Qaeda has, in that the USA has killed more Muslim civilians than Al Qaeda has. There are reports his trip to Europe this week was paid for with public funds.

One blogger commented in another thread about the mosque being a “few yards” from ground zero. He/she said, “it is more than a few yards from ground zero.”
I then heard on the radio that the building in question where the mosque is, was actually hit by airplane debris from the 911 attacks. I have not confirmed that, but it was on the radio.

Both sides, when projecting legitimate arguments, do have arguably solid points..

My problem is I have yet to hear why this Imam will not simply move the Mosque to a different site?

There is room for me to believe that this entire issue was calculated as a way to drive investors to the project in order to get it paid for.

This group, perhaps, knew if they created a big enough issue they could attract investors who want to be included in the decision to move it and also reap the benefits of how popular this center will be because of all the free press they have received..

I’ve just posted a new thread called “Mosque Fallout”. I think you’ll find it interesting reading, particularly regarding the consequences of super-heated rhetoric.

and what i said, donno is that women in iraq under saddam were allowed both college educations, and professional lives. which was in answer to avbb’s question.

lancaster: The gentle demeanor in which you blog lead me to think you are a woman. If I am wrong, I am sorry.

In your defense of Islam and the treatment of women, you should look at the different Islamic countries. Saudi Arabia being the exteme, and other countries having a little more tolerance. In Syria, there are woman in veils covered head to toe, and women in western business attire. With the sheer number of Iranians wanting to change their government, more and more woman are shedding their traditional clothing for more western styles to protest the regime. In Afghanistan, the Taliban will punish women for trivial violations of customs and appearence.

I am thrilled you are defending radical Islam lancaster. It gives us something to blog about.

AVBB, don’t worry many of us thought lanc, was female, till he described himself as “fat old, bald, and ugly man.”

Perhaps lanc, you could try English? I’m not hip on this slang you are using. Is it some sort of border trash talk or what?

lancaster: You have made it a point in every thread I have ever blogged with you to knock our country down. You have been critical of our wars, former President Bush, 911, and anyone from the right who gives an opinion on any issue.

You say you have liberal friends who are Vets. I bet none of them would tolerate some of your remarks. Instead of understanding the reasons why we are at war, you choose to place blame on conservatives, neocons, tb, Bush, Cheney, and Bush. Where have you ever said Bush won the war in Iraq because of the surge. You were sure critical of the war effort before the surge, then when we kick the crap out of our enemies, you give our military no credit for a victory. I know, it is easier to bitch and complain than actually doing something.

Randy Hall: you described me in your description of lancaster.

What is Obama going to do now since the Marine Corps Commanding General knocked Obama’s exit plan for Afghanistan. The second general this year to voice a negative opinion of President Obama’s war strategy. Obama is trying to please the far left, and his generals are critical of his leadership and plans for Iraq and Afghanistan.

I’ve tried to stay out of this issue, but have to clarify something. New York only offered “money and Land” to the Mosque to get them to move away from the property they already own. It was not a legal compromise.

Ray says, "…I would suggest that all bloggers ask themselves “Would I say this under my own name?” before hitting the Save Comment Button."

The answer is NO. The exception would be those with nicks that have offered their true names.

But with a nick, you can get away with plenty more. You can take that extra leap.

No name, no place of work, no home address. Unlike some of us here.

Does John Stewart have any more proof FOX is funding the mosque. Last I heard, there are a bunch of middle eastern investors funding the money and purchasing of property.

If a FOX partner did help fund the Mosque, good for them…

Makes the whole “FOX IS SPEWING MUSLIM HATRED” a less then credible attack.

Marino, thank you for saying I have common sense here. I cannot understand how some can say this is part of culture ! my God they want this here and are damn near demanding it.
Culture my arse. This isn’t about culture, it’s about demeaning women and children and controlling them through dispicable violent means. Shame on you if you think that makes it acceptable and that it should be tolerated.
